My wife, Catherine Zinn, has been a resident of Connolly Manor since May 2006. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and was beyond staying at home any longer. Knowing she was beyond my care, I and my family had some tough choices to make. We decided the first step would be to visit private-care facilities, including some hospitals. We came to the conclusion that Connolly Manor met the needs for her care. During our visit to Connolly Manor, the Administrator gave us a tour, explained what medical services could be provided as well as their limitations, available in-house activities, and outside agencies that provided services for the residents. The staff was very attentive to resident needs, and although busy, they maintained a professional, friendly, and caring attitude.
Since she became a resident, we know we made the right decision. The Manor is a 30-bed facility. In our opinion, the smaller number of residents means more one-on-one attention for the residents. The facility is always clean and odor free. Recently, the Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification (OHFLAC) conducted their annual inspection, and Connolly Manor received zero discrepancies. This tells us that management is very concerned about their facility and do all they can to be the best they can.
Recently, Catherine’s health has declined. She had to be transported to a hospital and then on to a specialist. The Administrator made all the transportation arrangements and kept the family informed of all developments. Upon her return, her condition required many special arrangements for her care. The staff met the increased care needs and is taking wonderful care of her. We have seen other residents require an increase in care in the past, and the staff has been wonderful. We see no preference in resident treatment but just a true sense of caring by the staff. After her return to the Manor, an appointment was made by the facility nurse and management to discuss recommendations sent by the medical specialist. The nurse put us at ease and outlined changes in care that would take place. The nurse also started the process for Catherine to receive services from Hospice. This was a big help to the family.
I have no problem in writing this letter of recommendation for Connolly Manor. Our family has been very pleased with the level of service provided. If I can provide any other assistance please contact Connolly Manor, and they can provide you with my phone number.
Sincerely,
Marvin Zinn
